Why I Chose to be a Business Major

When people learn that I want to spend the rest of my life coaching young people in athletics (specifically football), the first question they often ask is “why are you a business major?” The truth is, for many high-level coaches lessons and strategies taught in business school are extremely applicable. For example, the way a marketer evaluates a potential market and then sells a product to him/her is very similar to the way a collegiate football coach might try to position and sell his school and program to a high school prospect. This is just one of many examples of how a business degree can be applied to my career path, despite their seeming disconnect at first glance.
